Welcome Stella, the brand new pop artist who has just
managed to reach number 1 with her first ever track; “hello boys”! How did it
feel when you found out you hit NO1?
I couldn’t believe it, I was so
shocked! I was at a pool party in LA at the time and we had the radio playing
through the speaker to listen to the countdown. When I heard my song as number
1 it was just so overwhelming that I cried. It
was one of the best nights of my life; I honestly couldn’t believe it at
the time and even now it’s still just so surreal.
Sounds an incredible night! So how did you get in to the
music business?
Well, I had always loved singing as
a child and I had some lessons and stuff when I was younger. But it all really
started when I created my YouTube channel. As many artists have started I
posted a few covers and even some of my own songs on there. One day I got an
email from this producer saying he’d heard some of my stuff and that I should call
him. I thought it might have been all a hoax at the start from one of my
friends as they knew all about my channel but I called him anyway. On the phone
he said that he would like me to meet him in this big recording studio in
London and that I should bring some of my writing to record! Later I googled
the guy and found out he was a legit producer so I turned up to the studio and
recorded this song (along with some others). And here I am a few months later
with my song at number 1 and me doing an interview on FreQuency magazine! I
have always loved and read FreQuency even up to and after the release of my
single so to feature in it a few months later is absolutely amazing!
What a life- changing experience! Lots of people love
writing their own songs. What’s your inspiration when writing?
I like to write about my own
experiences and things that have happened to me. But mainly I love artists like
Rhianna, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran so I find them quite inspiring. I do like
to put my own twist on my songs too. I feel like I’m a mixture of loads of pop
artists but I put my own “Stella” twist on things to create what I would call a
new genre of pop!
Also, my Grandad was a big
inspiration in my music as he had always dreamed of being a professional
singer. You could say I am living our shared
dream!
Very touching- how would you describe your style as a whole?
I thinks it’s quite unique! I love
fashion and beauty as well as singing so my image is very important to me. I
have done a fair bit of modelling now which I just find so much fun! I think
lots of my fans (especially the younger ones) really look up to me as a person
and even idolise my style. I always try to share my advice and latest styles
with my fans which they really love.
Do you have any advice for the readers of FreQuency today?
Well at the moment I would suggest
that berry colours are very in. Berry lips, berry nails just berry everything!
And another thing that I have been really loving lately is wearing black heels
with skinny jeans! I just think it looks so classy and heels really make any
outfit look more impressive. It can be simple boots or full on stilettos just
something with a bit of height to give an air of sophistication!
And finally, what message would you have for all your fans
out there?
One of the things I always think of
and reflect on is this simple quote from Coco Chanel which is; “The best things in life are free. The second best
are very expensive”. I just think this is so true and really fits in
with my image/ personer.
